I'm really proud of you all. This was another very successful concert; we even had the Kent Messenger along, with subsequent photos and a write-up in the local paper.
Many thanks to all of you who either participated, came along, or both. The concert, as always, was a huge success. Several of you performed and I was really proud of all of you. Approximately £500 was raised to help fund Maidstone Music Festival. Many thanks to everyone who took part, either as performer, helper or audience.
This was very well supported as usual. It was a really enjoyable day for all and many shopkeepers in the Royal Star Arcade said how much they enjoyed us being there. We made approximately £250 in sponsorship and donations. This will pay for the mmf medals this year, so you can see it was definitely worthwhile.
Congratulations to William Baker (Grade3), Linfa Kear (singing Grade 1), Melissa Feist (Grade 2), Tierney Haynes (Grade 1) and Hannah Winnett (Grade 1).
Another bunch of successful practical exams. Yay! Also congratulations to Charis Thompson, Louise Goswell and Holly Dowd, who all passed their Grade 5 theory exams. Many thanks to everyone who performed, came to listen, or both. The concert went very well indeed, despite my fears and misgivings when several performers had to pull out at almost the lat minute (through no fault of their own). Those who were left each played two pieces instead of one and the audience was delighted, as usual, by the range of ages and standards.
This was a charity concert, the money raised being shared between the United Reform Church and T Congratulations to Olivai Cooke (2), Lucy Dowd (3), Leigh Goslin (3), Melanie Hayes (3), Justin Myles (1) and Tim Protheroe (5) for their success in practical examinations. And to Ben Kneebone (5), Ian Payne (5) and Tim Protheroe (5) for their success in theory exams.
It is worth a special "congratulations" to Tim, who passed Grade 5 piano, Grade 4 organ, Grade 1 guitar and Grade 5 theory all with distinction, all in the same exam period! This was a truly splendid concert, with two halves, each lasting an hour. Some wonderful performances took place; for several people it was their first public performance - a very special time. From the administrative point of view, it was the first concert of this kind where everybody on the programme has actually performed - no illness or sudden holidays anywhere!
The refreshments team were wonderful as always, filling us all up with drinks and delicious cakes. Many thanks to Kim, Dawn and their dedicated crew. Thanks also to everyone from mmf who helped out on the day. These concerts just would not happen without all of you. We made slightly in excess of £400, which is very welcome indeed. The next concert of this type will be in October, but before then we have the Maidstone Music Marathon on July 20. Please ask me for a Congratulations to Amy Dowd (Grade 7), Nelson Talukder (Grade 7), Charis Thompson (Grade 5), Daniel Thompson (Grade 3), Annie Yang (Grade 2), Ciaran Guscott (Grade 2), Chris Trafford (Grade 2), Jacob Barrow (Grade 1), Anya Flaherty (Grade 1), Grace Strong (Grade 1), Edward Higham (Grade 1), Lucille Gasc (Prep test), Jack Wong (Grade 5 theory) and Melissa Feist (Grade 1 theory). I don't ever remember having such a fantastic set of exam results. I'm so very proud of you all. |
